Dear Customer,
A Linux KVM/x86 virtualization-related security vulnerability, CVE-2026-53359, has recently been publicly disclosed. This vulnerability involves potential security risks at the host virtualization layer. To reduce potential impact and maintain long-term platform stability, NovixLink will perform emergency security hardening on all KVM host nodes.
Maintenance Scope:
All NovixLink KVM VPS host nodes and the VPS services running on them.
Maintenance Method:
This maintenance will be performed host by host. We will not reboot all host nodes at the same time. During maintenance on each host node, VPS services running on that host may experience a brief offline period or reboot. Services will automatically start again after the host node is restored.
Maintenance Schedule:
We will carry out this maintenance in batches, one host node at a time. The maintenance order will be arranged based on host status and current workload.
Possible Impact:
- VPS services on the affected host node may experience a brief outage or reboot during maintenance.
- After this security hardening, features inside VPS instances that rely on nested virtualization / VMX / SVM may no longer be available. This may affect use cases such as running KVM, Proxmox, some Android emulators, or other software requiring hardware virtualization passthrough inside the VPS.
- Regular websites, proxy services, databases, Docker containers, and standard Linux services that do not rely on hardware virtualization passthrough are generally not affected by this configuration change, but they may still experience a brief interruption due to the host reboot.
- During the maintenance period, some VPS migration, host transfer, or cross-host scheduling requests may be paused or delayed.
Data Safety:
This maintenance does not involve reinstalling user systems and will not intentionally delete user data. We will check host status and basic network connectivity before and after the maintenance.
If your VPS remains inaccessible for an extended period after the maintenance, or if you encounter abnormal startup issues, please open a support ticket. Since this maintenance involves platform-wide host security hardening, ticket response times may be slightly delayed for a short period. We will prioritize services that fail to boot or cannot connect to the network.
