The updated standard took effect on August 29, 2026.
IPLense multi-source IP lookup is now available. Quick Mode shows the unified result, while Professional Mode keeps the separate results returned by several mainstream databases.
IPinfo recently changed certain GTT and NTT ASN records from ISP to Hosting and confirmed by email that it will restore them to ISP within 3 to 5 days. Customers may also verify this by emailing support@ipinfo.io. The affected IPs, routes, and servers did not change.
The former IPinfo standard and Ping0
Ping0 defines its own home broadband, data center, purity, and risk labels. Its results can also be affected by the source of a visit and the query samples collected by the platform. Those labels do not reliably establish an ASN's registration type, the nature of the operator, or how a route is deployed, so Ping0 has not been a NovixLink delivery or refund standard.
IPinfo provides structured ASN data and an AS Type field. We had also named that standard explicitly on our product pages and in our Terms, so orders were assessed against it. This incident showed that a classification change at any single database can change the displayed result at once. From the effective date of the new standard, IPinfo will remain one source shown in Professional Mode, but it will no longer determine delivery on its own.
The new Dual-ISP and Home Broadband standards
The new standard uses the structured result in Quick Mode at IPLense. A Dual-ISP Residential IP must satisfy all three conditions below:
- IP Property shows Residential;
- the type badge to the right of ASN Name shows ISP; and
- the type badge to the right of Operating Company shows ISP.
A Dual-ISP Home Broadband IP must also be operated by an organization that actually provides fixed broadband, home internet, or a similar residential broadband service to households in the relevant country or market.
IPLense Professional Mode places the available results returned by several third-party data services on one page, including IPLocate, IPAPI, IPData, Abstract, Ipregistry, IPGeolocation, IPinfo, and ProxyCheck. These services cover different fields and layers, and Professional Mode displays their results separately for comparison. Currently, most mainstream databases in Professional Mode still report an ISP classification for the relevant public GTT and NTT test addresses.
Existing orders and refunds
We have completed our review of requests submitted between the first appearance of this IPinfo change and this announcement. Every order that raised the issue within 24 hours of purchase and qualified under the refund terms in effect at the time was fully refunded. These refunds do not incur the CAD $1 processing fee or a payment-gateway fee, and they do not use the customer's refund-count eligibility.
If a customer purchased before the new Terms took effect and requested a refund within 24 hours because IPinfo showed Hosting at first delivery, we will apply the IPinfo standard that was still published at the time and provide a full refund.
Orders older than 24 hours are outside the 24-hour refund window. For an earlier Service, an IP that showed ISP at first delivery met the product page and Terms in effect at that time. A database update or reclassification after delivery does not retroactively change the first-delivery result.
Streaming access and IP quality
This event changed an IPinfo database label. It did not change the ASN, operating company, actual routing, upstream carrier, or server. A database-label change does not by itself change the actual access state seen by a streaming service or another third-party platform. Those platforms continue to use their own current data and the user's account environment.
NovixLink will continue checking IP location, ASN, company-type, and abuse records, and will submit corrections when a database error can be verified.
