When trying to access geo-restricted streaming content (like Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, etc.), you will encounter two different "unlocking" methods: Native Unlocking and DNS Unlocking.
These two methods are fundamentally different in their technology, stability, and security.
1. What is Native Unlocking?
Native unlocking is the highest-quality and most reliable method for accessing content.
-
Definition: This means the server's own IP address is directly recognized by the streaming platform's system as a genuine, local residential or business ISP IP address.
-
How it works: When you visit the platform, it checks your IP, identifies it as a "legitimate local user," and grants you direct access to the region-locked content.
-
Advantages:
-
Extremely Stable: Because the IP itself is "clean" and trusted, it is not easily blocked by the platform.
-
Completely Reliable: This is the most thorough unlocking method, as it requires no technical tricks or bypasses.
-
Secure & Private: You have an independent, trusted IP address.
-
2. What is DNS Unlocking?
DNS unlocking is a technical "bypass" used when a server's actual IP address is already restricted by the platform (e.g., it's a known datacenter IP or has been blacklisted for abuse).
-
Definition: A method that uses DNS hijacking and proxy redirection to bypass a streaming platform's restrictions.
-
How it works:
-
Your server's IP (A) attempts to access the streaming service.
-
The platform identifies IP (A) as a datacenter IP and prepares to block it.
-
The DNS unlocking service "hijacks" your network request and reroutes it through an intermediate proxy server (B) that is located in the target country.
-
The streaming platform only sees the IP address of the proxy server (B) and therefore grants access.
-
-
Risks and Disadvantages:
-
Shared IP Risk: The vast majority of DNS unlocking services use a shared intermediate proxy IP (B). This means hundreds or thousands of users are all sharing the same IP to access the platform. If just one user abuses it, the IP will be banned, causing the service to fail for everyone.
-
Privacy & Account Risk: All of your traffic and data must pass through this third-party intermediate server, placing your privacy and account security at risk.
-
Unstable: Platforms are in a constant battle to find and block these shared proxy IPs, causing the unlocking service to fail frequently.
-
Our Commitment: Native Unlocking Only
While DNS unlocking is cheap, it comes with enormous security and stability risks.
NovixLink is committed to providing the more expensive but far more reliable native IP resources.
We ensure that every IP we provide is a genuine ISP residential IP that is directly recognized by the platforms. This guarantees your network service will be long-term, stable, high-speed, and truly private and reliable.
