FAQ

1. What is a residential broadband IP? How is it identified?

First, the IP type has nothing to do with where the server is physically located. It is determined by the ASN that the IP belongs to. ASN stands for Autonomous System Number, which can be simply understood as “the network operator that owns this IP.”

  • If an IP belongs to an IDC/datacenter-type ASN, it is generally considered a datacenter IP. These IPs usually have average unlocking performance and stricter risk control treatment. However, IPs under different datacenter ASNs can have very different user experiences. IPs under reputable datacenter ASNs often perform better.
  • If an IP belongs to an ISP/residential-type ASN, it is generally considered a residential IP. There are two situations here. The first situation is that the IP belongs to a Tier-1 ISP. These Tier-1 ISPs do not directly operate home broadband services themselves, but they own large backbone networks and IP resources, have a long-standing reputation and strict abuse review mechanisms, and usually perform very well in unlocking and risk control. They are also upstream providers of IP resources for home broadband operators, so they are still identified as dual-ISP residential IPs on authoritative websites such as ipinfo.io.

If an IP belongs to an ISP/residential-type ASN, there is also a second situation: the ISP that owns the IP is itself a home broadband provider, which is the product introduced in this article: residential broadband IP. These home broadband providers mainly serve local consumer users, selling home internet access through Wi-Fi routers, fiber-to-the-home, mobile SIM cards, and similar methods, rather than wholesaling bandwidth to enterprises. IPs from this type of provider usually have excellent unlocking performance and can restore the local real residential internet environment to the greatest extent, because these IPs belong to the same IP ranges and the same operators used daily by local residents, with the same characteristics, ASN query results, and similar unlocking and risk control performance.

At the same time, because home broadband providers mainly serve consumer users, enterprise wholesale discounts are very limited or not available at all, qualification review is strict, so this type of resource is very rare and extremely costly. It also does not include any China-optimized bandwidth, and is not suitable for direct access from mainland China, which is reflected in our pricing and product positioning. Therefore, only when you are very certain that you need this specific type of IP, have relevant networking experience, and have your own cross-border acceleration service, do we recommend that you order our residential broadband IP product. Otherwise, we recommend using our China-optimized residential IP product as the simplest solution with similar results.

2. How do you guarantee that the IP is static and dedicated?

We guarantee that all VPS products sold on our website include long-term static dedicated IPs, unless they are clearly marked as NAT shared IP products. We are not selling single-port Socks5 links. We are selling VPS services with a complete virtualization environment and a high level of customization. All dedicated IPs included with our VPS products have all ports open, totaling more than sixty thousand ports except for outbound ports 22/25/2525, which are not open for security reasons. Therefore, from a technical perspective, they cannot be shared at all, because there is no way to resolve port conflicts if the same IP were shared. You may verify this with AI or relevant industry professionals.

Disclaimer

1. IPs are recycled and resold. This is also the case with our competitors.

Before reassigning an IP to a new customer, we set a cooling-off period ranging from 48 hours to 7 days to help clear previous usage records as much as possible. During the rental period, we strictly monitor various indicators and abuse report databases to prevent abuse that may affect IP reputation, and we actively submit delisting or reputation maintenance requests when needed.

2. We can guarantee that the IP comes from and is operated by a real home broadband provider.

However, we do not guarantee that account registration, store operation, streaming unlocking, AI platforms, or any third-party business will definitely succeed. We also do not guarantee that all risk control systems can be bypassed. Platform risk control is a comprehensive system. Account information, login devices, browser fingerprints, cookies, usage habits, content quality, phone numbers, payment methods, registration environment, historical behavior, associated records, and other factors can all affect the final result. IP is only one basic factor, not the only factor, and therefore cannot be used as the evaluation standard. We do not guarantee the risk score of any website, because these scores do not equal actual business results, and the platforms never publicly disclose their own judgment criteria. Many so-called IP risk detection websites are merely third-party databases or aggregated lookup tools. Their results can be used as references, but they do not represent the real internal judgment of platforms such as TikTok, Amazon, Google, Meta, PayPal, Stripe, Netflix, ChatGPT, and others. We cannot accurately know which databases these platforms actually use, how much weight they assign to them, or whether they combine them with their own behavioral risk models. Scores shown by public detection websites should not be understood as official platform results.

3. We can guarantee that the residential broadband VPS product is reachable within the IP’s local country.

However, any cross-border latency, packet loss, or access issues must be resolved by the user. There is no China-optimized bandwidth, and we do not guarantee any international interconnection performance. Home broadband providers mainly serve local consumer users, whose primary needs are accessing local websites and applications. These networks are rarely used for common datacenter purposes such as website hosting or proxy services. Therefore, while they are cleaner, they usually do not optimize international interconnection. As a result, we cannot guarantee any international interconnection performance. We can only guarantee that the residential broadband product is normally reachable within its local country.

4. To maintain quality, residential broadband IP products are subject to strict abuse review, and the following uses are strictly prohibited:

  • Public proxies, open proxies, or any use that violates the laws of Canada, the United States, the user’s country, or the target market country.
  • Uploading or downloading copyright-sensitive content, or any reported abuse behavior such as spam, fraud, phishing, and similar activities.

And any behavior that violates our acceptable use policy: https://novixlink.com/legal/terms-of-services. Once discovered, the service will be terminated without refund!

Product Introduction

This product uses a non-China-optimized route for mainland China, and we recommend preparing your own cross-border acceleration service. It provides rare, native, clean dual-ISP home broadband residential IPs from Cox Communications, a real local home broadband provider in Las Vegas on the US West Coast, directly sourced from the origin network. It natively unlocks almost all US services and is suitable for cross-border e-commerce, social media operation, advertising, AI platform usage, and similar scenarios.

Cox’s parent company entered the cable television industry in 1962 and is one of the largest home broadband and cable television providers in the United States. It has long provided stable home broadband, cable television, mobile data, and other local communication services to US residents. All plans include SSD storage and RAID10 arrays, making them also suitable for foreign trade website hosting. With real local fiber access, directly contracted dedicated bandwidth resources, self-operated routers, switches, and host servers, this product provides stable domestic network interconnection quality and uptime performance.
